This year I will be using a few methods to communicate with families. Besides, phone and email, I will be using this blog to post information and share resources. I will also be using a program called, TalkingPoints, to share updates about our studies in English Language Development (ELD) class. TalkingPoints is a messaging platform that enables me to send a message from my computer to your phone as a text message. It also has the ability to translate my messages into many different languages. Responses can be translated back to English for me. There's no charge if you have an unlimited texting plan. If not, standard text messaging fees apply. There is also a free app you can download to send and receive talking points messages. Your responses are only sent to the school and not to other families. Please see the documents at the bottom of this post for directions on how to sign up for the optional program, TalkingPoints.

I look forward to working with your children to continue to develop their critical thinking skills combined with the development of academic language in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. We will read articles, novels, short stories' and poems. Students will learn the essentials of writing a research paper and will learn to craft a strong argument. We will interpret information learned from podcasts and from a variety of visual sources. As we progress through this year, I look forward to working with you to meet your child's individual linguistic needs.
